FNO 2012 Approved

FASHIONNIGHTOUT

Fashion’s Night Out, one of the industries most anticipated nights, has been approved for its fourth year!

After FNO 2011 there were some speculations about it being the last. Industry professionals complained about it being too much work planning the event on top of planning Fashion Week. Some retailers were even dropping out of FNO because they felt they were spending more money on making their store appealing for customers than they were actually bringing in at the end of the night. Customers would come into the store to enjoy the celebrity appearances and free drinks and food, but they didn’t actually buy things.

Although these are still concerns for industry professionals and retailers, Vogue has approved to sponsor the event another year in efforts to continue to help generate more business for retailers during this economic recession.

The official date for FNO 2012 depends on the date set for New York Fashion Week since FNO usually happens on the first or second night of NYFW.

Extreme Regime

IMG_1009-1

If you were around to catch Cody Ross and Michael Adjiashvili’s blush worthy presentation Extreme Regime, then you have probably been obsessing over it for weeks. Shocking to say the least. Cody Ross is no stranger to pushing the envelope and spotlighting the sexual nature hidden deep within modern man (and woman). Inspired by bondage and fantasy, this presentation took over Hotoveli flooding the senses with eye-catching imagery to bring out the dark passion most are too afraid to venture into.

(WARNING: not expressing your risqué side may lead to a horribly lackluster wardrobe)

Extreme Regime took you to the outer limits of surrealism, eroticism, and plunged you into an overall thrilling lack of sanity and restrictions while tearing you away from your comfort zone.

Already it’s clear from viewings of previous Priestess NYC collections that Ross is definitely one of this fashion capital’s top creative designer to obsess over. A genre of his own the man can put on a show and leave you wanting more every time. True to Ross’s nature the garments were structurally fascinating. Unexpected collars, silhouettes, and patterns made for a collection that shows an outstanding understanding of fashion and impeccable attention to detail. The show may be over but Priestess NYC continues to be on the mind of everyone with a desire to be the center of attention and leave a room buzzing.

Alexandra Beth: Peacock Munster

Picture_11

I’m in love with jewelry that stands out when mixed in with my much-of-black attire. Colors, patterns, textures, etc. (Anything that can become a reason to brag about my eye for the unique, of course) That’s why when I spotted the newest Alexandra Beth pieces featuring this super cute peacock pattern I felt like the fashion gods had answered my prayers. The dreamy colors mix together with an artsy peacock pattern that you can find on everything from retro oversized studs, dainty dangling earrings, and a gorgeous statement ring- a perfect assortment for this seasons biggest trends. I think these pieces are absolutely perfect for my range of styles. Retro, hippy, chic, or trendy – It’s impossible to not find a piece that doesn’t fit your fashion needs for the day. www.AlexandraBeth.com– Tracy Brock

Hyden Yoo S/S

Rainy weather didn’t keep away the crowd of editors, bloggers, and admirers alike flocked to the Hyden Yoo Women’s and Menswear presentation at the Cabanas of the Maritime Hotel. The well-known Chelsea hotspot was transformed into an ode to old Hollywood glam and sexuality as you were whisked away to a party of Great Gatsby proportions.

The highlight of this soirée were models decked in seductive and playful silhouettes casually engaging in conversations with each other while flashing the occasional high fashion pose that made every corner of the room look ripped from an editorial of your favorite September issue. Described as a representation of “notions of the taboo, romanticism, and subtle eroticism during the era of 1920’s neocolonialism” the collection showed deep admiration of the classic sexual undertones and playful nature that trigger a charismatic draw to the possible lover.

Hyden Yoo presented a nude palette with enticing silhouettes that trigger the temptations of chemistry. For the Menswear collection, Hyden introduces us to the more approachable man of charm.  As if teleported from a country club, this posh character is well tailored with no fear of setting a trend with pieces such as my personal favorite – an alluring trench coat.

The women stole the show.  Provocative designs clinging to the curves of the woman’s body, flirty lengths that highlight long legs, and confidence for days.  As I left the presentation I was ready to spend the rest of the day pining for days of a more innocent love and a less obvious sex appeal that led to the greatest love stories.

Jessica Ricci Raw Collection

An Obsession Set in Stone

I’m not a girl who keeps all of her fashion obsessions to herself, so the moment I started swooning over collections I would be working with everyday at Cameo Public Relations it was obvious I would share with my fellow fashion munsters my favorite pieces. The first day I walked into the office immediately I fell in love with a beautiful collection of raw gem rings that grabbed my attention with its inviting and classic appeal. These rings held the spirit of genuine appreciation for natural beauty and an aura of inspiration hidden deep.

It was a spark of curiosity and a love of simple elegance that drew me to a collection of alluring stone rings. Almost immediately I was determined to learn the secrets of what made the collection, designed by Jessica Ricci, so special. These gems of the Raw Collection, are just that- raw. Meaning they hold their own beauty without the need of dyes, lasers, chemicals, etc. Learning the mesmerizing story behind these modest and charming rings made the pieces go far beyond making a fashion statement.

Every item in the collection holds a deeper purpose held within the stone itself along with a story inspired by the designer’s many experiences that led to this artistic and poetic interpretation of fashionable jewelry. Whether the gem’s purpose is to ward off negativity, bring luck or inspire inner peace, these pieces pull on the gems’ natural abilities to attract positive energy, as many cultures have believed in for a long time. Be sure to visit Jessica Ricci’s website where you’ll find an inside look into the many muses of for her collection including her love of learning, appreciation of many cultures and a calling to keep traveling for more inspiration.

Every piece of jewelry in the Raw Collection was made to nurture and inspire optimism, tranquility and hope. Even more interesting is since every piece is raw and untouched; every piece of is unique. “Mirame” translates to “Look at Me” and when you are wearing these fabulous pieces there is nothing onlookers can do but stare in amazement. Designer Melinda Huff has come a long way from making swimsuits on the beaches of Hawaii and working alongside couture seamstresses, and has stepped out into the world of high fashion with her unique looks. Expect your body to look fit and fierce when you walk out in a Mirame swimsuit because these silhouettes and detailing are too die for. This collection exudes confidence well beyond its years for a line that only got its start in 2010.  I expect a lot from the future of Mirame and definitely look forward to including it in my must have summer wardrobe list.
