1. Becoming poor was the greatest thing to happen to me-
I remembered when I first moved to LA over 4 years ago. I moved here with like $200.00 to my name. No financial support from anyone. I had two choices to either make it or go home. I really didn’t have a choice like others do. Some people have family financial backings, but I never had that. We didn’t have any money back home to call up Mom/Dad for anything. I had to focus intensely on the cards I was given and become 100% self reliant on myself. I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way though. It taught me the value of patience, dedication and it was a way to prove to myself that I was born for this. I think people should look at obstacles as nothing but a simple challenge to see if you are willing to fight for what you want/love. I didn’t have a problem with growing up poor, but I had a problem with us staying poor. I moved to LA with the mindset that I would change this around and take care of my family. It’s been an incredible driving point for me thus far.
2. Wanting to be the best/inspire others
No matter what it is, I have a competitive spirit to always be the best at it. I’ve always felt like if I’m going into this industry I want to be recognized as one of the best. I feel like if we are planning on doing this for the rest of our lives we might as well work on becoming the greatest at it. Then we always have the drive to become better and better. If you focus all your energy into becoming the greatest you can, eventually you will reach a level that can’t be stopped. It’s our job as the next generation to set an example for the generations to come. We need to inspire, create and work harder than the last. People set limits on their greatness and that’s why they will never be remembered throughout time. You need to know you have it in yourself to become great. This has always been something that’s pushing me constantly. It’s always in the back of my mind, I know I can achieve greatness. Once you know it/believe it in your head/heart your already halfway there.
3. FOCUS
Mental thoughts are just as strong as physical moves. Not only do I work every single day at my career, but I constantly throughout the day tell myself all the things I’m going to make happen. I psyche my brain into thinking anything I say will become a reality. I put so much energy into these things I want and eventually they happen. Put up images of the life you want, always tell yourself you can do it and stay focused on it.
I can honestly say that the things I’ve wanted most to happen all came true within 1-3 months of keeping my focus on them. I’ve got things that honestly seemed farfetched months before, but became a reality just by myself telling me it could.
4. Working with a sense of urgency
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t work with a sense of urgency. A few days ago a girl told me how incredible it was that I was only 24 years old. Especially with the accomplishments/success I’ve had. I think a lot of that has to do with working with a sense of urgency. I don’t wait for things to come to me or people to get back to me. If I want something to happen, I make it happen there and now. I don’t wait around for opportunities, I go out and make my own opportunities. I’ve always measured myself by accomplishments. I always tell myself if today was my last day would I be happy with the effort/work I’ve put into my career thus far? I’ve yet to say no. I work with the drive that I have something to prove and to prove it now, not later. I think this is a great way to push yourself to get off your ass and make shit happen before it’s too late! Some people don’t get a second chance!

I have an obsession with Leather Pants.

If you’re around the LA area don’t forget to swing by The Beverly Center to check out Tradition! It’s a dope store located on the first floor with tons of goodies and sells my jewelry line. I remember when I first moved to LA I always thought how cool it would be to sell at the Bev Center, glad to say I finally made it happen.
I basically just walked into the store wearing one of my necklaces when I was pulling for Shontelle and the owner noticed it right away. We chatted a bit and it turned into me brining merchandise over just a few days later for the store!
