I got another tattoo the other day. Wanted to dedicate something to one of the greatest of our generation.

Shop like a celebrity online

elysewalker

How many times have you looked through a magazine and wondered where a certain celebrity shopped? I’m sure most of us Munsters are guilty of wishing that we could raid the closest of our favorite celebrity and borrow some of their most ionic looks. Although chances of us actually being able to do that are slim to none, there is the next best thing, shopping an online site launched by a celebrity stylist!

Elyse Walker, who has styled Jennifer Garner, Giada de Laurentiis and Kate Beckinsale, has helped to launch a new website called Forward by Elyse Walker. The website will give online shoppers all over the world the luxury of shopping labels that are popular with celebrities such as Alexander McQueen, Missoni, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Versace, and much more.

There are many stylist collaborations with online shopping sites, like Brad Goreski with Gilt Group, but makes this online shopping site different is the fact that it has international shipping, it caters to all sorts of fashion tastes and budget, and it will have styling tips, videos, and a web magazine to help you keep up with all of the celebrity trendsetters.

ALL HEALED UP THE NEXT DAY

I decided to get a cross tattoo the other day. It was completely spontaneous and wasn’t planned. I wanted to thank God for providing me all the amazing success, family, friends, followers and fans.

Fashionable Food

Fashionmunster_com

Photographer Fulvio Bonavia did a shoot recently called “Food Dresses” for Garage Magazine. Two things everyone loves, fashion and food, brought together in one shoot.

The shoot features Louis Vuitton, Prada, Alexander McQueen and Moncler…dresses from these designers were recreated with lettuce, anchovies, walnuts and oranges.

What do you Munsters think?

Alexander McQueen

kate-middleton-Alexander_Mcqueen

Alexander McQueen brought a cascade of feathers and ruffles to the runway on Tuesday for the Ready to wear Spring/Summer 2012 show. Full of femininity but also still edgy and dark creative director Sarah Burton presented a show-stopper mixing tradition with darkness. Full of flirty skirts, high collars and armor-like bodices this was THE show to see in Paris.

It would not have been an Alexander McQueen show without a little dark twist, as you can see by the photos the models wore form-fitting “death” masks. There were small parts that if you looked too quickly you would miss it, like a glimpse of a harness at the back of a garment; an aggressive note that was used in the Fall 2011 collection as well.

Snakeskin Accessories

Snakeskin is HUGE.  Snakeskin shoes, bags, and clothing are all the rage.  You can find great shoes for decent prices (not real snakeskin of course). Aldo, Nine West and Bebe have great styles of shoes and bags for affordable prices!

Printed Items

Wearing a print with a basic cardigan or dark opaque tights are a hit for the fall. Mixing prints can be hard, but it can easily be done as long as you don’t overdo it.  Basic way to incorporate prints into your fall wardrobe? Easy. Get a blazer (black, blue etc) and wear it over the most wonderful printed dress, the blazer will make you look polished.

You can find great printed dresses at H&M, Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 for affordable prices. If you are looking for more of a designer edge try Juicy Couture or Alexander McQueen.

Leather

Leather is everywhere (and in all different colors too!). Try a leather skirt with a flowy button down top, leather pants with a feminine top or wear a leather dress! You can find skirts, pants, and dresses made of leather (or pleather) at places like The Gap, H&M, Juicy Couture, Gucci, Danier…

The leather trend has been seen on all sorts of celebrities, so make sure to try it out!

Lace

Lace is so beautiful and elegant. It looks great on everyone too! Lace has met a sexy, rocker vibe this season as well as the beautiful classic lace garments. If you are looking for something lace to try out, start with a lace skirt and pair it with a basic top. Lace dresses are beautiful too, if you feel overdone throw on a nice blazer or cardigan and you will be all set!! You can find a lot of lace for affordable prices at Forever 21, Bebe, and Urban Outfitters.

Lace isn’t only for clothing though. Grab a pair of lace heels and you are all set to master this trend! My wishlist for lace is the Valentino lace booties…they are beautiful.

Inspiration by McQueen

Alexander_Mc_Queen_flowers_cage_dress_savagebeauty

I wanted people to see a part of my creative process while working on my collection. I actually spent a lot of time planning how I wanted certain pieces to look. Alexander McQueen still to this day influences my work/designs. In the three images above of his Savage Beauty exhibit and Fall 2010 Collection, I drew direct inspiration from the images/colours.

The other was from a pair of shoes I thought needed to be transformed into a necklace! How do you guys get inspired? A lot of my other pieces had inspiration from different areas, but I noticed McQueen had a lot to do with this season.

“I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.”

All of the Lights – Kanye!

KANYE_almaortiz_tumblr

Elle UK has confirmed that Rapper and Fashionisto, Kanye West, is indeed designing a ready-to-wear line to be launch at New York Fashion Week. As a confessed wearer of women’s clothing, and an obvious culprit to truly not caring what people think, I believe Kanye’s label has the potential to be an obsession of mine. He got talent, ambition, and RESOURCES. Working closely with Louise Wilson, a renowned instructor at Central Saint Martins, (named number one design school in the world by Fashionista.com with alums including ALEXANDER MQUEEN DUH) as well as British knitwear designer Louise Goldin, Kanye is in great hands. Um knitwear?!! I am so excited to see the line! There’s a lot of hype, but I personally think Kanye can handle the pressure.

Elle UK spoke with Louise Wilson. “‘I can confirm that Kanye has been to visit me twice at Saint Martins and we have briefly discussed this collaboration,’ Wilson said. ‘His visit was in part to employ interns for his label, and it’s important to mention that he’s supported our fashion school and made an immediate donation to Saint Martins, which perhaps further demonstrates his passion for the industry. I’ve known him for two years now and he’s incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, he’s a global phenomenon and a very interesting person. I think we can expect a well-considered collection, you wouldn’t expect less from a pair of professionals and I warn against dismissing it in haste. There are those who might assume Louise [Goldin] will be doing all the work and Kanye is just the face, I don’t believe this will be the case—he researches thoroughly and is hands on and committed to his work.’

Pushing beyond your limits

alexander-mcqueen

Sometimes I feel like sharing my thoughts is so appropriate. So here is yet another “tip” take it or leave it, but understand it’s a mentality we all should embrace.

At some point today look yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself who you are, what you want in life and your ultimate goals. Then ask yourself have you honestly done everything possible to make these goals/dreams come true?

Your sense of who you are will determine your actions and what you get in life. If you see a limit to your success or think your surroundings keep you from reaching your goals, then you will receive the little that you expect. DON’T DO THIS! Do the opposite, aim higher for everything and tell yourself that you are destined for greatness.

Remember, it starts with you. No matter what people say now or have said in the past it’s up to you to believe what you are worth (AND ONLY YOU). People only follow those who provide a pathway and who know where they are going in life. Set the tone and practice what you preach!!!!
