V-day Gift Ideas: Charlene K

Charlene K_January2012

In less than a month many of us will be celebrating the day of love known as Valentine’s Day. Many of us are starting to brainstorm the kind of gifts we want and the ones we want to give. Whether you’re feeling the love with a Valentine or by yourself, you deserve to get a lavishing gift that complements your elegance and beauty. For most of us Munsters, nothing is more lavishing and complementing than jewelry.

Jewelry is one of the typical gifts for Valentine’s Day, but what makes it special is the thought put into it and of course the jewelry brand. One our favorite brands of jewelry at Fashion Munster is Charlene K, which based out of Beverly Hills. Why is Charlene K at the top of our list for Valentine’s Day gift ideas? It’s contemporary, classic, trendy, and perfect for any occasion, which is how the designers themselves describe the collection. The collection features gold, sterling silver, rose gold and 14k gold vermeil metal tones along with rare gemstones, making every piece beautiful and versatile

Charlene K was created by Gigi and Teong Kay, a husband and wife team. Gigi was born and educated in Shanghai, while Teong immigrated to US from Burma. Teong moved to the U.S. he began working in the fashion industry at an entry level position. After quickly learning about the industry, Teong founded two very successful dress lines, Pave and St. Romei. Both collections were sold at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. After the success of his dress lines, Teong and Gigi began Charlene K Jewelry Collection, which is named after their daughter.

Pieces from the Charlene K collection have been seen on Eva Longoria, Angela Bassett, Tyra Banks, Hillary Duff, and Audrina Patridge. Charlene K has even been featured in magazines and on television networks such as WWD, InStyle, People, E! Channel, Extra, and the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The Charlene K jewelry collection can be found in hundreds of stores all across the United States, Canada, Dubai, London, China, Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and Europe. To find out more information about Charlene K for your Valentine please visit www.charlenek.com.

We hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day, Munsters!

Inspiration by McQueen

Alexander_Mc_Queen_flowers_cage_dress_savagebeauty

I wanted people to see a part of my creative process while working on my collection. I actually spent a lot of time planning how I wanted certain pieces to look. Alexander McQueen still to this day influences my work/designs. In the three images above of his Savage Beauty exhibit and Fall 2010 Collection, I drew direct inspiration from the images/colours.

The other was from a pair of shoes I thought needed to be transformed into a necklace! How do you guys get inspired? A lot of my other pieces had inspiration from different areas, but I noticed McQueen had a lot to do with this season.

“I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.”

Isaiah Garza Collection Fall 2011

Jerilyn
Isaiah Garza’s Fall 2011/2012 Collection was inspired by people & events that were influential during this period of his life. The collection was created in a dream state of mind based clearly off his moods, passion and emotions. Each piece tells a different story with its own unique energy & way of grasping the eyes attention. Isaiah’s best way to put the collection into perspective was  a mixture between soft, hard, pain, happiness, beautiful, ugly, sad, happy, light and dark all wrapped into 14 pieces. As cliché as It may sound, the collection is made for anyone who can truly appreciate handmade fashion. Isaiah enjoys playing with the elements of soft and hard in all his designs whether it be a dress or accessory.
