Over the 90′s? As if!

Remembers sitting on your couch in the 90′s watching Clueless and seeing Alicia Silverstone getting mugged wearing Azzedine Alaia? How about the phrase as if? Or how a Jeep Wrangler was the car every teen was dying to have?
If you don’t, maybe you remember leather dresses, pleated skirts, multi colored fur, bustiers, peplums, drop shoulders, print mashing, power suits and denim on denim?! If you can’t recall them from the first time around, you’ll be sure to see them in every hipsters and fashion guru’s 90′s inspired wardrobe!
With-in the past few seasons we have seen a total 90′s resurgence everywhere from street fashion- to all major runways- and after seeing prefall 2012 and mens fall 2012- it seems like this trend is too hot to drop!
Designers like Donna Karan and Oscar De La Renta are opting for a classic, sexy look, featuring pencil skirts and dresses with high slits, dropped shoulder power suits, and peplum blazers. Peplums were all the range this past season and we saw them everywhere from Givenchy to Chanel- peplum skirts look great with a sheer blouse for a feminine, fashion forward look.
At Valentino Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have created a Julia Roberts- circa- pretty woman- meets- Princess Diana- vibe. The sheer tops, velvet burn outs and skirt suits scream classic 90′s; and the red gowns hint at the elegant minimalism seen in evening wear of the decade. We are also seeing a lot more velvet and other textured fabrics on the runways (everything from pants to dresses to tops, etc).
For menswear fall 2012 Giorgio Armani is channeling a chic Parisian M.C. Hammer. We have seen harem pants for quite a few seasons now, but Armani revamps them with luxurious velvet fabrics and a variety of wool textures and prints. On top we’re seeing clean cut leather jackets and fur vests, and of course a plethora of suits that are red carpet ready.
For accessories be on the look-out for pointed platforms, cork espadrilles, chunky heels, sky high stilettos, structured bags, oversized bangles, and even some fierce choker necklaces.
90’s fashion is a style that can work for everyone, and there are so many basics available that you can blend them in with any look or wardrobe (H&M, F21, and Zara all have affordable/trendy options)! So, essentially what we are saying is- get on the 90′s kick before its time to put this trend to rest!
