Innerwear as Outerwear

Emillio-Pucci-RTW-Spring-2012-1

Spring is the period of adolescence before the season grows into a very hot woman by the name of Summer. We continue in a natural progression from last summer’s trend of innerwear as outerwear.

Last year was more about being free and embracing a sexy, gypsy like look.

A prime example – Pucci’s Spring 2012 ready to wear line

(Above pic)

But this year has a more vintage contemporary feel, with more structured pieces of lingerie.

For example, pieces from Jason Wu’s Spring 2013 ready to wear line

Ways to Wear It

Treat a bustier or a cami as a pretty tank and structure it accordingly. A popular way is to show some skin before breaking it up with a skirt or slacks.

Another way is to place the bra top right above the skirt so it flows as one continuous piece. An A-line skirt works best for this.

Pair it with a blazer for a bit of cover up, with the lingerie just peaking through.

Some like to combine a bralette top with a sweater. A similar concept to the blazer, but it’s a more relaxed look.

Layer a sheer top over a bra or bandeau.

Contrast the delicate nature of the lingerie by accessorizing with chunky necklaces and edgy boots.

What does this mean for the everyday culture?

Earlier this decade, girls were whispered about for wearing sheer dresses. Things have really changed. I, for one, think we’re going in a positive direction. Women and girls alike are being bolder with their fashion choices. And this time, instead of being provocative for provocative’s sake, we have discernible females who understand the difference between slutty and sexy. There are some gorgeous pieces of lingerie out there, and showing them off has become established as a playful aspect of everyday style.

Me stealing the mic and the “random rapper” trying to steal it back!

Besos!

WTF? SO RANDOM!?

The night started with The Hexa by Kuho fashion show during Paris Fashion Week and ended at The Premiere Classe “Don’t believe the Hype” party. Was a night to remember to say the least! I really enjoyed Hexa by Kuho and decided to add it into this post. Thought I would show my viewers a personal look on a full night of mine in Paris during Fashion Week.

Designer Jung Kuho (team Samsung) presented his fall-winter collection featuring straight and pure lines, very classical shaping and where only the shoes featured stood out of place in shape. With a minimal color palette, Jung Kuho repeats leather strips, horizontal and vertical, as a signature.

Concept Fashion Week

Last night at Concept LA Fashion Week Mike Vensel show. Really enjoyed some of the coats he put into the collection. The collection was bulky and had a lot of attitude/edge!
